What are Local Place Plans and can they be used to deliver better cycling infrastructure? As cycle campaigners we’ll look at anyway to get better cycling routes across the highlands, so could Local Place Plans (LPP’s) help to deliver them?

We take a quick look at how Local Place Plans across Highland cover cycling and active travel.

Members of the Highland Cycle Campaign have been letting us know how they feel about the removal of a 2 way section of cycle lane from Inverness’s Eastgate.

members have raised concerns over the removal of a cycle lane at the Eastgate in Inverness.

Treat cycle routes as critical transport infrastructure too! We’re campaigning for cycle routes that are Clear to Ride all year. Grit in Winter, sweep in Autumn, clear in Summer.

Being able to integrate cycling into public transport lets people make longer journeys more sustainably – vital in the Highlands!

Everyone who wants to, should be able to travel within and between communities in the Highlands safely by bike.

Streets should be safe for everyone including children! Playstreets, Bike buses, Bikeability, School Streets, independent travel, Kidical Mass.

The purpose of this campaign is to make cycle ways accessible to all, regardless of the size of bicycle or the ability of the cyclist by removing barriers that prevent cycling.
